Royal Neighbors of America Recognized by Association of Fundraising Professionals

With Outstanding Civic Service Organization Award


Rock Island, Ill. (Nov. 15, 2023) – Royal Neighbors of America, a women-led fraternal benefit society based in Rock Island, Ill. has been recognized as Outstanding Civic Service Organization by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), IL Quad Cities Chapter.

Driven by its mission of insuring lives, supporting women, and serving communities, Royal Neighbors provides its members life insurance and annuities products and has made Social Good impact the cornerstone of its work. As a fraternal organization, Royal Neighbors has more than 250,000 members nationwide and local chapters of volunteers that carry out the organization’s mission across the nation.

Nominated by AFP member and Royal Neighbors member Megan Tarasi, she celebrated Royal Neighbors for their commitment to volunteerism through their chapters that work with college students. Recently, with the help of Ms. Tarasi, Royal Neighbors launched 13 college chapters on the St. Ambrose University campus to inspire, promote, and support the students’ volunteerism.

"We are dedicated to enriching communities through impactful service initiatives," Royal Neighbors Director of Philanthropy Amy Jones said. "It’s our goal to nurture and sustain a lifelong passion for contributing to the greater good. Being acknowledged for our efforts is truly humbling, and we hope this recognition inspires other organizations to actively engage in community service."

In 2022, Royal Neighbors reported a record $24.5 million in Social Good impact. In the Quad Cities alone, there are 73 local chapters. In 2022, Royal Neighbors’ Quad Cities chapters clocked more than 100,000 volunteer hours; donated more than $150,000 to support the QCA community; generated $6.5 million in Social Good impact; and supported more than 100 QCA nonprofits.

According to AFP, the Outstanding Civic Service Organization award honors an organization that demonstrates outstanding commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement. Winners have a proven record of exceptional generosity and leadership.

Royal Neighbors will be recognized on National Philanthropy Day at an awards presentation hosted by AFP. The event will celebrate those in the Quad Cities community whose charitable work, philanthropic endeavors, and innovative generosity inspired many in 2023.
