Help YOUR Community Champion

There is only one thing as good as making a difference in your community – helping your community champion who goes above and beyond to inspire and make lives better. Royal Neighbors members have a unique opportunity to support local community champions by nominating them for a Nation of Neighbors℠ empowerment grant.

Finding a community garden in the Detroit, Michigan, area is not a common sight, but it was a vision of Jamie Gabriel. After the recession, her Interfaith Community Garden project was initiated to bring sustainable living to residents of the immediate community and share the harvest with multiple cities. Located on an abandoned property, the garden will provide healthy food. Education on nutrition, meal-planning and budgeting are also part of the project.

Jamie shares her gratitude by saying, “It is such a great honor for others to believe in me enough to award such a precious award. The Nation of Neighbors℠ empowerment grant touches my very soul. It reminds me that my vision and goal of helping others has now been enhanced and will enable me to do more.”

Nation of Neighbors, Royal Neighbors’ signature program to empower women, provides financial assistance to individuals who have a plan to start or expand a business, an organization or group that helps women and girls. Nearly $2 million has been awarded since 2007.
