Scholarships
Since 1961, Royal Neighbors has helped our beneficial members reach their education goals. To date, we have provided more than $4 million in scholarships to our members.
High School Seniors
The traditional scholarships are designed to help students graduating from high school between January 1 and June 30, 2011. Applicants must be beneficial members (which means they are insured or own an annuity with Royal Neighbors), be ranked in the upper quarter of their class, show an outstanding record of volunteerism, and plan to enroll as a full-time student in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college, university, or junior college.
• Making A Difference Scholarships – Ten, $2,000, four-year, renewable grants are awarded annually to female or male beneficial members.
• Making A Difference Leader Scholarship – One, $5,000, four-year, renewable scholarship is awarded annually to the most outstanding female high school senior from the pool of qualified Making A Difference applicants.
Returning Students
Specifically designed to help beneficial members who decide to return to college or to seek additional certification to advance their careers, our scholarships can help members better themselves while reducing the impact education fees would have on family finances.
• Life Enrichment Scholarships – Five non-renewable grants of up to $500 are awarded annually to beneficial members who are seeking training for semi-professional occupations in business and industry or programs to provide skilled training. These scholarships are not intended for students enrolled in a bachelor or master’s degree program. Applicants must be beneficial members (which means they are insured or own an annuity with Royal Neighbors) who are 18 years of age or older and who have previously graduated from high school.
• New Horizons Scholarships – Ten non-renewable grants of up to $5,000 are awarded annually to beneficial members who plan to enroll as a part-time or full-time student in pursuit of a degree at an accredited college, university, or junior college. Applicants must be beneficial members (which means they are insured or own an annuity with Royal Neighbors) who are 18 years of age or older and who have previously graduated from high school.
• New Horizons Leader Scholarship – Royal Neighbors grants one annual award of up to $5,000 a year for up to four consecutive years to the most outstanding female from the pool of qualified New Horizons applicants.
