Fraternal Aid

Royal Neighbors of America recognizes that serious illness or disaster can strike anyone, any time. In the true meaning of fraternalism, the Society will make available assistance from the Fraternal Fund to be disbursed to both adult and youth beneficial members and adult general members.

1. Fraternal Aid for Illness/Accident

In extreme cases of need brought about by extended illness or a serious accident, Royal Neighbors members may apply for Fraternal Aid to cover out-of-pocket expenses.

Fraternal Aid will be paid in a lump sum per incident per member as follows:

  • Adult beneficial member: $250
  • Youth beneficial member: $250
  • Adult general member: $150

*Maximum of $1,000 per incident, per household, regardless of the number of Royal Neighbors members residing in such household.

Fraternal Aid for Illness/Accident shall not be given for any member more than three times within a 20-year period.

2. Fraternal Aid for Disaster

Fraternal Aid may be given to Royal Neighbors members who have suffered extensive property loss not covered by insurance for the following specific disasters:

  • Flood
  • Hurricane
  • Earthquake
  • Tornado
  • Fire or lightning damage

Only damage to structure and contents of an inhabited family dwelling will be considered (this excludes driveways, landscaping, businesses, and outbuildings). Fraternal Aid will be paid in a lump sum per incident as follows:

  • Adult beneficial member: $250
  • Youth beneficial member: $250
  • Adult general member: $150

*Maximum of $1,000 per incident, per household, regardless of the number of Royal Neighbors members residing in such household.

Fraternal Aid for disaster shall not be given for any member more than three times within a 20-year period.

General Provisions

  • Fraternal Aid will not be considered if receiving aid through a regular Matching Funds project during the same calendar year.

Fraternal Aid will be given to cover out-of-pocket expenses only; this means gross expenses incurred less reimbursement from any relief agency, insurer, or other source. All information requested on the application must be provided. When received, each application will be examined and benefit determination will be made on an individual basis, and at the discretion of the fraternal services department.
