A long-time member of Royal Neighbors, Eva and her husband, Randall, took advantage of the Life Line Screenings member benefit from Royal Neighbors. “Randall thought I might have a problem, so we both had the screenings,” she said. “My tests came back fine, but his didn’t! We were encouraged to see our doctor.”
With more encouragement from their daughter, a former nurse, they followed up. After several additional tests, a large tumor was discovered and Randall immediately had surgery. “We learned this type of cancer is very rare – the doctor had seen only five other cases like it before,” said Eva.
Today, Randall is doing well. His last check-up revealed there has been no return of the tumor. “We thank you so much for that letter suggesting we get those tests,” said Eva. “I’m sure it saved Randall’s life.”

Pauline Schwarm knows what it’s like to live through a disaster.
A tornado struck her hometown of Greensburg, KS, in 2007 and destroyed most of the small community. “We had eight churches, and they’re all gone now,” said Pauline. “It will take years for the town to recover.”
Pauline was injured as she was going into the storm cellar. A beam hit her back and ruptured a vertebrae.
“It was such a shot in the arm when we received a Fraternal Aid check from Royal Neighbors,” said Pauline. “When you’re really down, it’s wonderful to know that someone really cares.”
As Royal Neighbors finds our dislocated members from Greensburg, we continue to send financial assistance. To date, we have distributed 20 checks totaling $10,000 to help our members rebuild their lives.

With the help of a Royal Neighbors scholarship, Lindsey Greenleaf, Chicago, IL, graduated from the University of Illinois. “I’m so appreciative of my membership in Royal Neighbors,” said Lindsey. “I was responsible for one-third of my college tuition, and the Royal Neighbors scholarship covered that. It enabled me to focus on my classes without having to take a job during the school year.”
