Royal Neighbors JOINS HANDS with area students to help Rock Island YWCA - 4/20/10
(Rock Island, IL) – Royal Neighbors of America employees are partnering with Daisy Girl Scout Troop 8372, Taylor Ridge, IL, and students from other local schools to celebrate JOIN HANDS DAY, a national day of volunteer service, on May 1, 2010. The group will be following the organization’s 115-year mission of supporting women by working with the YWCA of the Quad Cities located in Rock Island.
New window displays will be created for Moxie, a clothing store offering gently used professional clothing at a discounted price. It is part of the YWCA’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Program providing business and business casual clothing for women who are entering or re-entering the workforce.
The public also is invited to support this effort by dropping off tax-deductible donations of summer clothes, shoes, purses, scarves, etc., at Moxie from 10 a.m.-noon as part of this volunteer day.
In addition, the volunteers will be painting, gardening, and making repairs at the YWCA building next door to Moxie, which houses a children’s daycare center.

JOIN HANDS DAY is the only day on the volunteer service calendar specifically targeting youths and adults who work together to plan and complete a project that will make a difference in their own neighborhoods.
