Royal Neighbors employees collect and donate more than 6,000 items to help QC Homeless Shelter

(Rock Island, IL)—Employees of Royal Neighbors of America are once again making a difference in the community through the organization’s annual Neighbor-it-ForwardSM Program. Through the program, two employee teams at the Home Office were each given $3,000 to make a hands-on difference in the Quad Cities area.
the Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. "Cold Weather" policy is in effect which provides additional assistance through the cold weather months. Due to the increase in clients seen during this time, the shelter has an increased need for the basics.
A team of 20 employees have collected more than 6,000 personal items, including towels, washcloths, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, razors, socks, gloves, and scarves for residents of the Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. They also will be providing over 100 pounds of coffee. Volunteers will present the items to Humility of Mary representatives on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m.

The Neighbor-it-Forward Program is part of Royal Neighbors’ Nation of NeighborsSM Program that empowers women of strength and courage to reach their full potential with financial assistance from Royal Neighbors. More than $1 million has been awarded to individuals and families across the United States since the program began in 2007. In addition, to collecting items, employees “adopted” four single mothers with children for the holidays by purchasing gifts for each family. The second team of employees is remodeling the kitchen at the Place2b, a center for homeless teens in Rock Island, on Saturday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 15. Thanks to the $3,000 stipend, the volunteers have purchased and will install kitchen cabinets and countertops.
