Make A Difference Day
When is it? Saturday, October 22, 2011
What is it? Held annually the fourth Saturday in October, Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. USA WEEKEND Magazine and HandsOn Network, the volunteer arm of the Points of Light Institute, have joined together to sponsor this powerful day of volunteerism.
Royal Neighbor’s vision is to empower women to achieve financial security, health and wellness. This year, Royal Neighbors chapters, agents, and members across the country are encouraged to support our vision by creating Baskets of Hope for service organizations that provide programs and assistance to women. The baskets should be created and/or delivered on Saturday, October 22.
Baskets may be filled with clothing, hygiene products, inspirational books, educational materials, household supplies, or other items that will help women improve their lives. Click here for basket theme ideas.
Royal Neighbors Home Office is collecting new and gently used professional and casual business women’s attire, shoes, purses, jewelry, scarves and other accessories, brief cases, and inspirational books for the new Quad Cities affiliate of Dress for Success, scheduled to open Nov. 1, and Project Now, a community action agency. Both organizations support women by providing a variety of tools to help them thrive in work and life.
Donations should be delivered to Royal Neighbors Home Office located at 230 16th Street Rock Island, IL between 9-a.m. and noon on Saturday, October 22. Stop by and join us for our live remote! Donations that cannot be delivered on Saturday, October 22, may be delivered to the Home Office from now until October 21, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information, please contact Vickie at Vickie.Sedam@royalneighbors.org
