ROCK ISLAND, IL– Royal Neighbors of America is proud to recognize Suzanne Besco, a member of Chapter 2908, Longview, WA, as a Fraternal MVP (Most Valuable Participant) for the week of January 28, 2008. Fraternal MVPs are “Fraternalists-in-Action” who volunteer their time and energy to strengthen their communities through participation in local chapter activities and other charitable endeavors.
“We are very proud of Suzanne and her volunteer efforts,” said Cynthia Tidwell, Royal Neighbors President/CEO. “She embodies the heart of neighbor-helping-neighbor through her hard work, dedication, and generosity.”
As the event planner for her Royal Neighbors chapter, Besco has organized many projects, including a matching funds project during which her chapter raised more than $1,000. The chapter manned a coffee-break stop near a local highway, donating the tips to the Mark Morris High School wrestling team for new team uniforms and gym mats. In addition to raising the funds, the chapter hosted a Back-to-School Barbecue for the students where the check was presented.
Besco also organized a chapter event to make school packages for the students at Columbia Heights Elementary. The chapter gave the students gift bags with pencils, stickers, erasers, and much more. These are just a few of the great community service projects that Besco and her fellow members do for their community.
When commended for all she does for the children in her community, Besco replied, “They give back more than I could ever give them.”
Fraternal MVPs are part of the Fraternalists-in-Action program sponsored by the National Fraternal Congress of America, which recognizes individuals whose unique stories best represent 21st century fraternalism. These fraternalists demonstrate exceptional compassion and vision through their volunteer activities.
