(Rock Island, IL)--Royal Neighbors of America contributed $5,000 to the Quad City Health Initiative (QCHI) to assist in improving the health of the Quad City region. The check presentation was made today by Judith Tshibangu, Royal Neigbors marketing executive, to Dr. Richard "Bud" Phillis, QCHI board chair, and Nicole Carkner, QCHI project coordinator, during a QCHI board meeting held at the American Red Cross office in Moline.
"We are pleased to contribute to this Initiative for the third year in a row to show our strong commitment of this community based health initiative," said Mrs. Tshibangu. "As a 100-plus year old membership based fraternal organization offering insurance protection to our members, we have a vested interest in making our community healthier."
Created in 1999, the QCHI is a community partnership of over 500 individuals in active pursuit of a healthier community. The Initiative seeks to be a catalyst for improving the health and overall quality of life within the Quad City community. The Initiative raises awareness of health issues, encourages or creates projects to address gaps in health services, and fosters community collaboration in all aspects of health.
Established as a fraternal benefit society in 1895 by pioneers in the field of women's rights, Royal Neighbors of America offers its members unique value-added benefits such as scholarships, disaster aid, and a variety of volunteer opportunities within their communities. It also provides financial security to members through a range of life insurance products, annuities, and Medicare Supplement insurance plans.
Headquartered in Rock Island, Royal Neighbors serves more than 232,000 insurance certificate holders and members, and is licensed to do business in 41 states and the District of Columbia. With $2.2 billion of insurance in force, it has members in 400 active chapters across the nation.
