Royal Neighbors of America donated $11,000 to residents of Mansur Wood Apartments, Carbon Cliff, IL, who suffered losses due to a fire on Nov. 8. Each of the 22 families who were affected received a $500 check.

“We hope our cash assistance will help the residents begin to rebuild their lives,” said Cynthia Tidwell, Royal Neighbors President/CEO. “This is what Royal Neighbors is all about. We began helping victims of disasters back in 1906 following the San Francisco earthquake. Today, we are pleased to continue to live our legacy of neighbor-helping-neighbor.”

Mrs. Tidwell is shown at left in the picture as she met with Katie Thomsen, a resident of the complex whose apartment sustained damage.

Royal Neighbors of America is a non-profit fraternal membership organization that insures lives, supports women, and serves communities. In addition to being able to purchase insurance and annuity products, its members also participate in a variety of locally based volunteer opportunities, and are eligible to apply for many member benefits such as scholarships and disaster aid.

Headquartered in Rock Island, IL, Royal Neighbors serves more than 230,000 members, has $2.1 billion of insurance in force, and is licensed to do business in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
